It’s so hard to find the right sandals these days. Before, I always knew what to choose. But right now, even some of the good brands are making some bad looking sandals and flip flops. I am not sure why is that. And I don’t mean just when it comes to looks. I know I have a different taste and that I may not like most of the footwear I try. But the quality is also questionable nowadays.

I guess that I am used to buying a product that will last me for some time. This is why I always choose quality. But I know a few people who are totally opposite of me. They want the cheapest sandals because: a) They get bored with them quickly  and b) They will get destroyed sometimes, so why pay a lot of money for them.

That is understandable and I get that. I was looking for some sandals with my friend Lisa and we were excited about Adidas sandals more then some other brands. Sure, Reef and Rainbow make good flip flops too, but I Adidas makes them a bit more girly. That’s what I love about them.

These slides are quite comfortable to the feet and are staying firmly against the foot. They do not simply slip away. I guess it’s the material Adidas uses here. I didn’t ask much, since I didn’t have anyone to ask ;)  But since it’s a brand that has some reputation ( right?) I believe they won’t let me down any time soon. I get the light blue pair and they only cost me 33$. Not bad for some quality beach footwear, don’t you think?

Interestingly enough, as there was little opportunity for financial investment, the Renaissance clothing of the ruling classes was not only seen as indication of wealth, but a form of investment. In times of financial need, this clothing, along with other wedding gifts, could be sold for money or bartered for other goods.

Fabrics that were the hardest to produce and therefore the most expensive and exclusive,is favored by designers during the Renaissance. This included cotton, velvet, silk and brocade. At the time, each of these was labor intensive and/or produced a great distance away from Western Europe, such as in Egypt for cotton. Ribbons, seed pearls and golden / silver thread were mainstays of fashion at the time, used to embellish Renaissance clothing. In the Renaissance period, women’s clothing ran the gamut from simple, basic items like underskirts, bodices, and robes, to more fanciful and ornate pieces like full skirts, over-bodices, hoops, and collars.

Men’s Renaissance clothing on the other hand, was often designed to accentuate the body shape, providing them with a more rounded look. (something very similar to a barrel). Renaissance clothing often included padded shoulders and breeches, as well as hats, that were made out of the same rich colors and fabrics, embellished with the same embroidery, and had fancy finishes that completed the Renaissance clothing of women.
